In 1999 Julia Hewitson combined her two passions of physiotherapy and love of animals by extending her human practice in Kloof, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa to incorporate an animal physiotherapy and rehabilitation practice where she now also applies her knowledge and skills to the treatment of small animals and horses.

Julia is a Chartered Physiotherapist, registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa and is a member of the South African Society of Physiotherapy and the Animal Physiotherapy Group of South Africa.

Physiotherapists apply analytical and treatment skills, based on a thorough knowledge of anatomy, physiology and biomechanics, to increase performance, prevent injury, enhance healing and improve quality of life.
Animal physiotherapists assess, treat and rehabilitate injuries to muscles, ligaments, tendons, joints and spinal conditions. A heated hydrotherapy pool is used to assist dogs recovering from injury, surgery or with chronic mobility problems.
